Now You Can Exchange Email Without a Computer or Internet Access

We all know somebody who just flat out refuses to join the computer age.  Maybe it’s a parent or grandparent.  Or maybe it’s you.  (Perhaps someone has printed out this post and given it to you to read, or even sent it to you in the mail.)

Well I recently ran across a solution called Celery, which now allows people who don’t have a computer, or just refuses to use one, but still wants to stay in touch with the rest of the world.

Celery is a service that lets you exchange email with anyone by using a standard fax machine.  You simply write out your message by hand on a piece of paper, then fax it to Celery.  It is then converted into an email, and sent to the contact of your choice.  Anyone with the Celery user’s email address can then send emails, documents and photos to the Celery user’s fax machine, which provides them with a printed copy of the email.

The pricing plans seem fair as well.  Full color service runs about $14 per month for up to 100 pages, while black and white service will only set you back around $9 per month. If you don’t have a fax machine, you can order a Celery Fax Machine for a one time fee of about $90.00 which is sent ready to go directly to the Celery user.

The service allows you to designate as Celery Buddy, who acts as the Celery customer’s trusted helper and has access to the system. The Celery Buddy helps with Celery setup, and helps add email addresses to their address book through the Celery web site.

And yes, they also provide SPAM filtering….
